2 Steps to a Tailored Approach to Fitness

It’s August. And that means kids are back in school and the sun will soon be setting earlier in the evening. It also means fewer days laying by the pool, wondering what happened to the swimsuit goals you set back in the spring.

If you are beating yourself up for giving up on your goals, stop. Dwelling over negative thoughts and feelings about yourself and your overall wellness, will only hurt, not help.

We get it. Not everyone is a fitness enthusiast. But we believe and know that every individual cares about and places value on their overall well-being. And everyone knows that involves some combination of physical activity and nutrition. But if you are not a true fitness lover or macro-nutrient aficionado, you may not know what the best roadmap to wellness is for you. That’s right, for YOU. Wellness is not one size fits all.

So let go of the goals you set earlier in the year. Step back and recognize that you are only human and that truth be told, you didn’t have the knowledge or support you needed to truly be successful this summer.

Now that that’s out of the way……evaluate

Take 30-minutes to yourself sometime this week, perhaps to go for a leisurely walk, and evaluate what roadblocks you encountered on your path to reaching your goals. Was your nutrition plan too restrictive? Not restrictive enough? Did your calendar fill up before you could even say, “Yoga Break”? Do you suffer from an old injury or aches and pains that made exercise difficult or painful? Did you set a goal of running a half-marathon even though you hate running?

If you can be honest enough to pinpoint and observe where you fell short, you can determine a plan to overcome it in the future. If you’re not sure where to start or feel like you’ve tried a million ways to overcome the same obstacle, call us. We promise there is hope. We will work with you to discuss your roadblocks and obstacles, and create a plan that gets you to your realistic goal in the safest means possible.

We know some folks shy away from the cost of personal and semi–private training. But that is because your mindset is on the short-term when in fact it should be on the long-term investment in your well-being. Working closely with a trainer will not only get you to a healthier state of well-being, but it will give you the tools you need to succeed in the long-term…which doesn’t just mean a longer life expectancy but greater life enjoyment.

Don’t wait. Don’t hesitate. Don’t question. You are not beyond help and it IS worth it.
